| Quarterly Mission Report 2009 Chennai January 31, 10
Action packed months of December and January were very productive in the Lord’s work. I have traveled to North and South of Chennai preaching in the gospel meetings. Hundreds heard the gospel and many responded. 6 American workers and I have done follow up teaching to the converts through the lamp stand efforts. Over a hundred homes were visited and had Bible study. The silver jubilee thanks giving was held at Surapet, Chennai. 25 years of work led us into 15 nations of the world. It was a time of thanks giving and rejoicing in the work of the Lord. Set a goal to reach all of India and 50 nations in the next 25 years with the gospel of Jesus. Gospel meetings were conducted at Surapet area In December. An auditorium to sea 1000 people is almost ready at the Godson school premises. That is available for the church on Sundays. These gospel meetings were conducted with the goal to get house full of Christians to worship there. Many new contacts were made for further Bible study and we are hopeful to reach the goal in the next 10 years. The church in K.K. Nagar hosted their 9th annual lectureship on the 12th of December. Over 300 souls were present. Special Bible classes were conducted for the young people of 5 congregations in Chennai during the year ending. Several of them were baptized into Christ including Angelin our daughter. Special Bible classes were conducted for the children in the orphanages. 5 of them were baptized into Christ. Washing machines were purchased for 6 homes. Need 3 more. Clothes were presented to all children during Christmas. Mattresses were purchased for Paul & Dorethy home Another 62 students were graduated from the Bible College. They are from 4 nations and returned to their home towns to preach the gospel. The Bible College is a blessing in preparing and sending workers. Now we are on the process of enrolling new students. The 2nd block of Godson school was dedicated on the 31st of January. An overflowing crowd praised God for his doing. International preachers meeting were held on the 2nd of January. Over 500 workers from 6 nations brought news of several baptisms and abundant growth of the church. The workers from Orrissa reported that Christians in that state are still persecuted. A special prayer was offered to God for their freedom to worship and work. 30 bicycles were distributed to workers. 35 wheelchairs were distributed to the physically challenged. Over 500 Bibles and scripture calendars were distributed to workers. That was not enough for their work. 200 rice packets were distributed to the poor. Nearly a hundred souls were baptized into Christ first half of January. Thousands of Christians were strengthened in their faith through the Bible lessons and fellowship on the 31st night. God’s word preached at the dedication ceremony, Silver jubilee, thanks giving meeting, International preachers meeting, gospel meetings and church services were well received by people. Bro. Joel Coppinger, Sister Pat Coppinger, Bro. Robert Morse, Sister Rhoda Elrod, Phoebe Elrod and Rickey Copeland were with us during the special events. Their visits and work at Faith Hospital, orphanages, Bible College and Mobile clinic was appreciated. The more than 100 home Bible studies and prayers for the needy were of matchless comfort and edification to the hurting. Bro. Robert taught Greek language at the Bible College. The team from America and Chennai went to Chittoor District of Andrapradesh on the 6th of January. The Mobile clinic worked along with the gospel meetings. Patients poured in that we could not close the work at the scheduled hour. 598 patients received medical help. 6 daily news papers reported on the work of the free Mobile Clinic. The charity of the church got expose in Chittor. We were late to return to the motel as more people were waiting to listen to the gospel. As we were returning by 10.45 in the night our car met with an accident. None of the passengers were hurt. Tirupaty houses one of the famous temples in India. Gospel preaching and teaching are prohibited in 25 miles radius to the temple. Bro. Velaytham and coworkers preached in the prohibited area and were arrested by the police. While they were taken to the police station the police van met with an accident. Velayutham told the police that he was doing things against God’s will. The police man wanted to know more about the living God. He was taught the gospel and was baptized. Velayutham was released immediately. Robert Morse from Colorado fell and broke his hip bone. Immediately he returned to the U.S. The surgery is over and he is on the way to healing. 32 were baptized in that trip. Bro. Rickey Copeland and I returned to that area on the 25th January. We worked at Nagari. 5 more were baptized. Rickey Copeland returned to America on the 28th January. On the 8th of February I am to go to Nutaki, Andhra Pradesh for a gospel meeting and land breaking for a church building. 10th and 11th special gospel meetings are scheduled in Bangalore.
